Enjoy Jack M. Champaigne Masterworks, one concert of your choice during the 2024-2025 Jack M. Champaigne Masterworks Series two complimentary tickets in Section A.

The South Bend Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Alastair Willis, opens the 92nd Season and the Jack M. Champaigne Masterworks Series with the electrifying energy of The Rite of Spring on Sunday, September 15 at 2:30 p.m.! For the first time, the Symphony kicks off the season on a Sunday afternoon at the Morris Performing Arts Center in downtown South Bend, Indiana.

“On behalf of the Symphony, welcome to our 92nd Season! This season is curated to feature the finest music, soloists, and musicians,” remarks Music Director Alastair Willis.

The Season opening concert begins with Four Black American Dances by Carlos Simon, one of today’s most sought-after composers. The piece celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Black Americans through a vibrant tapestry of dance-inspired movements. Ending the first half of the concert is Francis Poulenc’s Les Biches Suite, a whimsical and elegant work that captures the spirit of 1920s of Paris. The second half of the concert is devoted to Igor Stravinsky’s iconic Rite of Spring—one of the most influential works in classical music.

“The South Bend Symphony Orchestra’s 92nd season opener is a celebration of musical diversity and innovation. With Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances, Poulenc’s Les Biches Suite, and Stravinsky’s groundbreaking The Rite of Spring, this concert promises to be unforgettable. Join us for an afternoon of world-class performances under the dynamic leadership of Alastair Willis,” Dr. Marvin Curtis shared.

The South Bend Symphony Orchestra thanks Jack M. Champaigne for supporting the Masterworks Series and Jordan Lexus of Mishawaka for being a distinguished Artistic Sponsor of the 2024-25 Season, reflecting their commitment to fostering artistic excellence and enriching the community through exceptional musical experiences.
